Turkey's first five months see property sales near 1.03 million units, down 13.9%

TRT Haber Ekonomi · TRT HaberProperty sales in Turkey reached 1,029,771 units in the first five months of the year. According to TRT Haber, citing TurkStat data, that is a 13.9 per cent decline from the same period in 2025. Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir recorded the largest sales volumes in the first five months.
The decline in property sales is being read alongside still-high mortgage rates and cost pressures on the construction sector. A Turkish Contractors Association representative speaking to TRT Haber said housing activity was advancing 'under financing-cost pressure'. Sales to foreign buyers fell 22 per cent year-on-year.
Economists view the five-month dataset as important for tracking the lagged effects of central bank policy steps on construction and the property market. The core-inflation outlook and the annual change in the housing index stand out as key variables shaping sector expectations for the second half.
