The letter proposed harmonising health-screening protocols and adopting common operating procedures at airports and major points of entry.
The Italian government highlighted the importance of early-warning systems given dense passenger and migration flows across the Mediterranean. According to the dispatch, the letter recommends faster data sharing through the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). Belgium, Germany and France are reported to be preparing their positions in the coming days.
