GM unveils new gas-powered Cadillac models as EV demand cools

General Motors is recalibrating its product strategy as demand for electric vehicles grows more slowly than expected. CEO Mary Barra said Tuesday that the next-generation Cadillac lineup will include gas-powered versions of the CT5 sedan, the XT5 midsize SUV and the previously discontinued three-row XT6 SUV.
The move marks a visible retreat from GM's earlier all-electric vision for Cadillac, announced just a few years ago. The automaker is adjusting its product planning in response to slowing EV sales and shifting consumer preferences.
Rival automakers have similarly been revisiting their electric-vehicle investment timelines in recent months. Analysts say GM's decision adds to a broader industry pattern of partial pullbacks from EV-only roadmaps toward internal-combustion models.
