Sudan Army Drone Strike on Darfur Court Kills 35, Rights Group Says
A Sudanese rights group says a Sudan army drone strike on a court building in RSF-held North Darfur killed 35 people on Sunday. The strike is the latest reported in a region where a more than two-year war has displaced millions.
A Sudanese rights group said Sudan's army carried out a drone strike on a traditional court building in a Rapid Support Forces-held village in North Darfur on Sunday, killing 35 people. The group said the strike hit the court while it was in use by residents of the RSF-controlled area.
The attack is the latest in a series of strikes reported across Darfur since fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF paramilitary group intensified in the region. Casualty figures from such strikes are typically reported first by local rights monitors, given the difficulty international observers face reaching affected areas.
Sudan's more than two-year conflict between the army and the RSF has displaced millions of people and produced what aid officials have called one of the world's largest humanitarian crises. Neither the Sudanese army nor the RSF has issued a public statement responding to the reported strike.
